International meeting 2026

Members of the Friends of the Holy Land Institute for the Deaf (HLID) from the UK, the Netherlands and Germany gathered this weekend near Frankfurt for our biennial international meeting. It was a welcome chance to reconnect, share insights and reflect together on the work we support in Jordan.

Although Fr Jamil, HLID’s Executive Director, was unable to travel due to the current security situation in the Middle East, we were grateful that he could join us remotely for the key sessions. His updates and reflections helped anchor our conversations in the daily realities of HLID’s work with deaf and deafblind children and young people.

Over the two days, we compared notes on recent developments, learned from one another’s experiences, and explored how our respective associations can continue to collaborate well. The focus throughout was simple: to strengthen HLID’s vital and life‑giving work in Jordan.

It proved an encouraging and valuable weekend. We left with a renewed sense of purpose — and a shared commitment to do even more, together.
